Spring has sprung!

Spring has sprung! You can feel it in the air, and isn’t it lovely? Spring is a time of renewal and growth, new life and new beginnings. Now is the time to think about how to nourish your body for the coming seasons, so following are some tips on how to make the most of this special time of year.

Stretch Stretching is great to improve blood flow, relax stressed muscles and calm your thoughts. Unfurl your body from its winter huddle and feel how your skin, body and mind benefits.

Breathe The air is still fresh and cool in the morning and evening, so pull it deep into your lungs, right down to your diaphragm, to oxygenate and refresh your body and brain.

Exercise Get moving! Traditionally, in winter we slow down. It’s colder and darker, even in Brisbane, and we just want to snuggle up and rest. That’s okay, it’s good for us for a period of time, but in spring it’s good to start moving again. Take a walk in the spring sunshine and feel your body awaken to the new season.

Nourish Mangos and raspberries are in season in spring. Add them to a blender with coconut water, banana and cinnamon for a delicious spring smoothie full of vitamins and antioxidants.

Be joyful It’s warm, it’s sunny, the birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming, there is a lot to be grateful for. Being grateful for the small things has proven health benefits for both mind and body.

Spring is my favourite time of year, full of warmth and hope. Using the tips above will help you to make the most of this special season. Enjoy!
